Gallery & Showcase

The Arts Commission manages and curates the Newtown Municipal Arts Gallery and the Artisans Showcase. Exhibition is open to individual artists and arts organizations and is not limited to a Newtown affiliation.

Photographs of Nature

Lauren, a clerk in the tax office at the Municipal Center since 2022, and a native of Woodbury,  recalls walking her dog, Izzy, five years ago and realizing that she wanted to record the nature she was experiencing.

It wasn’t long before she traded her phone’s camera for her daughter’s Canon Powershot and then advanced to a Sony Mirrorless Camera and joined Flagpole Photographers Camera Club. Annually she is part of that organization’s November-December Photography show at the Municipal Center.

Many of her photographs are taken during walks at the Three Rivers Park in Woodbury, but she finds she  sees the most wildlife in the Jane Piece Park in Southbury.

“I take photographs so I can share the natural beauty,” Lauren has said.

More of her work can be seen on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/around_town_pics/?hl=en)
