Jewelry Exhibit in the Artisans Showcase at the Municipal Center through March

The work of the metalsmith jewelry maker Lee Skalkos is currently on exhibit in the Artisans’ Showcase in the Newtown Municipal Center Art Gallery. The Municipal Center is open during normal business hours as well as late on days when meetings are scheduled.

The Skalkos work will be in the showcase through March. All are for sale. A middle school teacher, her students  have been awarded 42 gold medals in the state of CT and also six national titles for their metal work and artwork, ages 11-18.

Along with her school work, Miss Skalkos is also available for individual and groups lessons in her workshop.

Her pendants, bracelets and earrings all might include Cape Cod Sea glass and sometimes stones from Maine and other places. And sometimes the designs stand alone.

“My hands never look pretty,” jewelry make Skalkos has said. “But they create beautiful things. Made one at a time from scratch.”

Her My Child Artwork Jewelry line was featured on HGTV, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Better Homes and Gardens Magazine, Yankee Magazine, Rosie Magazine, and was also featured in Victoria Magazine.
